Privacy
Designed to remember vehicles, not expose renters.
This plain-language summary explains the MVP’s privacy choices. It will be updated as the product changes.
What the service uses
DamageLedger creates a pseudonymous account in your browser so you can control your own entries. Vehicle identifiers and the details you choose to submit are stored to provide exact-match history.
What the community sees
Community history hides contributor identities, exact event dates, and private pickup locations. There is no public directory for browsing vehicles or renters.
What you should not submit
Do not include renter or employee names, faces, contact details, payment information, contract images, or other personal information in a report.
Device access
Your anonymous account is tied to the browser session, not a MAC address or hardware fingerprint. Clearing browser storage or changing devices may remove access until an optional recovery method exists.
Website measurement
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand visits to public pages and referring sites. It uses a temporary visitor hash rather than analytics cookies; Vercel discards visitor sessions after 24 hours. Vercel processes request information to produce aggregate statistics, including approximate location (country, region, or city), browser, and device type. We remove query strings and fragments from page URLs before analytics collection and exclude unknown page paths.
When product-event measurement is enabled, we count successful searches by identifier type and whether a match was found, and completed contributions by type. We do not include vehicle identifiers, account identifiers, report text, claim amounts, or photographs in those events. These are aggregate activity counts, not verified numbers of individual renters.
We skip analytics when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Ad blockers may also prevent measurement. Learn more about Vercel’s analytics data handling.
Corrections and removal requests
Self-service editing and withdrawal screens are still being built. For now, email privacy@damageledger.com. Include the vehicle identifier and enough information to locate the entry, but do not email payment details or identity documents.
